Robot Bay

Only a portion of the surface of Derrickson's Landing is currently habitable. The atmosphere is breathable, but the temperatures, winds and other environmental factors make it too dangerous for an unprotected human. This leaves it to the military to explore the equatorial region, which some prospectors say is where most of the alien artifacts can be found. The military explores these regions by air and on foot, the latter using expensive and powerful robot vehicles that protect their passengers from virtually any threat and allow them full mobility. Some prospectors have made efforts to get their own robot vehicles to explore those regions since they, officially, have not been put off limits. But such suits are expensive and the best kinds are generally illegal military-grade hardware.
