Ghost Station by ILJackson Ghost Station by ILJackson
The old Vesta sector listening post over Hecate IV was destroyed long ago, but in all this time no one has successfully looted it for salvage. Ships have reported landing in the old, charged and ruined docking bays, but none have ever come out. It's been years since anyone even tried and the station is so far out on the frontier that the military has deemed it not worth the effort.
Occasionally, some crew will fly by and think about making a salvage run, but they always chicken out.
Many claim that as they approached, they could see lights on inside, even though the station's power plant, and all of its crew, died with it decades ago...

This is really really cool. The story makes more use in and of its self, and is only boosted by the piece.

However, there are 2 things that just keep bugging me.
The texture on the shuttle,I don't know why, but its not clicking with me. Also, the damage to the station, to me, I would like to see like a chunk missing, or more critical damage. idk, had to speak my mind though. Regardless, my opinions take nothing away from how awesome this is.

Very Nice.

I like the story :D The textures and lighting are great, and the station has that smooth bulk that hints at massive size and unexplored depths.

Sound like A Rift to another megavers was open. Or could be genetic experiment gone hayware. Maybe Space vampires? Endless possibilities.

If it can't be salvaged, just deorbit it. From the looks of that planet it's either a gas giant or venus-like hell, either of which would be an excellent dumping ground. Just set some robots to fit some thrusters facing prograde, "light the candle", and watch the ensuing fireworks as it re-enters.

No risk of military-grade materials getting into the wrong hands and you get rid of any "ghosts" that might, somehow, reside on the station.

Too bad Vesta Sector is on the opposite end of Protectorate space from the Free Colonies.
