If one wants a tangible reason never to cross the Terminus Line into the forbidden regions of space, one need look no further than the Fengaral Cyborgs. Very little is known about their culture and it is not even certain they have one in the traditional sense. They refuse to communicate with organics of any kind, and only appear to recognize other sentient machines as alive and worth their time. But technology, be it ships or weapons, draws them. They pirate any ship they come across, spacing the crew as though they were useless junk, and stripping parts from the ship they need or want. Often, they don't even bother rounding up the crew or killing them, they just begin stripping the ship with all hands on board, until the life support fails, abandoning them to the cold harshness of space. The only successful contacts have been through ships equipped with artificial intelligence. They communicate with an A.I. readily, but have never been dissuaded from their gruesome task of cannibalizing captured vessels, despite that contact. Physically powerful, merciless and alien, it was only recently that a body was dissected, revealing that there were remnants of organic material housed inside of them. Whatever species they were it appears they have rejected all things living, all things flesh, for the cold certainty of machinery. The most comforting thing about the Fengaral is that it is unlikely they will ever wage war on humanity or any other living alien species. To wage war, they'd have to acknowledge we exist.
You really transcended the medium on this one. It no longer looks "computery" at all. The lighting, color pallet and atmospheric perspective are just awesome. The subject has the cool factor in spades. Well done!
