Description

Akcini Raiders are a favored ship of the Arnuban, a humanoid bat-like species fighting to carve an empire out of the fractured remains of the Empire of Many Suns. While the Arnuban are a bit behind humanity and a few other races in technology, they tend to make up for it in numbers and cunning.
When you go to war with the Arnuban, it's more like going to war with an empire of pirates. Unless defending, they will refuse to engage enemy fleets and ships, instead focusing the majority of their efforts at raiding supply lines, convoys, industrial complexes, ship yards, you name it. Someone once jokingly suggested that "war" in Arnuban translates to "steal everything that isn't nailed down or on fire." An Arnuban captain, hearing the saying, joked that he keeps a crowbar and fire extinguisher on hand.
Not only do the Arnuban themselves start raiding mercilessly during war, but they'll attempt to hire very mercenary and privateer in known space to raid and harrass you as well. This tactic works every well, particularly in drawn-out campaigns...as long as the Arnuban can defend their own territory successfully.
Of course, all races raid during wartime to some degree, but nobody does it like the Arnuban.

The Akinci Raider is, therefore, designed to be an ideal raider ship. Fast, good hitting power, lots of cargo space. It's not designed for a drawn-out fight, but rather to swoop in, drop troops, take cargo, destroy what it can't carry and race away.

While the ship is nearly 900 feet long, it only rates tactically as a heavy frigate or destroyer. The size is sheerly the result of the Arnuban being 8 to 10 feet tall each.

I don't know if it was intentional, but the ship sort of resembles a bat.

especially the nose. I truely like looking for the hidden beauty in the ships you design. The animal imagery is always so intriguing. It's also nice to see one that isn't a fish for a change. you do lots of fish. Not that thats a bad thing.
