ALSOT-4 'Aquila' by ILJackson ALSOT-4 'Aquila' by ILJackson
The Armored Long-Range Special Operations Transport (ALSOT)-4 "Aquila" is for the exclusive use of the Terran Protectorate Colonial Marine Corps. They are heavily armed and armored interstellar-capable transports designed to place an entire platoon of special forces marines behind enemy lines or into heavily contested areas. They are much smaller and more agile than the Titan Heavy Lift Transport, and far, far more capable at space combat.
Even without up to 20 marines onboard, the Aquila is a powerful craft designed for extremely heavy combat operations. Its six Halberd-X missiles can cripple frigates and destroyers or penetrate hardened targets. It also has two long-range particle-beam cannons and a cluster of three multi-barrel railguns, as well as two light missile launchers and a dorsal-mounted rail gun turret for anti-starfighter and missile defense. It is equally capable in space or atmospheric combat and has been specially designed for extremely hostile environments.
Internal heat shunts, special electro-magnetic dampners and an advanced cooling system that traps nearly 95% of the ship's waste heat and turns it into battery power gives the vessel semi-stealth capabilities, which are extremely hard to achieve in space. Unfortunately, the system is short-lived before the heat build-up overwhelms the system. This is meant to give the vessel just enough time to pierce enemy defenses and deploy its troops.

I'd be a little skeptical of its flight handling in normal to heavy atmosphere, but it does look sweet. What is the red bit under the multi-barrel railguns for?

advanced sensor package. And when you have anti-grav technology, those airfoils get smaller and smaller.
